Impact

We measure what matters: stronger readers, families with practical money skills, and young people who can see and plan a future. Here is what our work is built to achieve.

Read to Wealth leads the way

Read to Wealth is the largest initiative currently underway at Legacy Builders Foundation. The funded initiative serves youth in grades 3 through 6 and supports literacy growth, financial learning, family engagement, and future economic confidence.

The initiative is designed to serve 75 at-risk youth from underserved Aurora, Illinois neighborhoods, with particular attention to below-grade-level readers and English Language Learners, since these students often need both stronger reading support and additional context for new vocabulary and concepts.

How we measure progress

We track reading progress, participation, and family involvement throughout each program cycle, and we share what we learn with families, partners, and funders in plain language.

Literacy growth

Reading support that strengthens fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary for students working below grade level and for English Language Learners.

Financial learning

Age-appropriate lessons that introduce saving, spending choices, and goal setting in language students in grades 3 through 6 can understand and use.

Family engagement

Materials and activities that invite caregivers into the learning process so progress continues at home between sessions.

Future economic confidence

Early exposure to financial concepts that builds comfort and confidence carrying into later school years and adulthood.
